The theorist I chose was Florence Nightingale.
She came up with Environmental Theory. This theory is based on the premise of environment. Her theory was based on the premise that the environmentof a patient should help the patient. She includes in her theory the nurse as well as the environment.
While she was serving in the Crimean War, shenoticed how the environment and the recovery of the patients wereconnected. That is when she came up withthe theory. She broke the theory downinto four main components: environment, person, health and nursing (Alligood,2014). The room that I would design would have floor to ceilingwindows to allow in as much natural light as possible. These windows would be facing a garden orsome sort of greenery. The bed would facethis window and the window would have shades that could be drawn for less lightand privacy for examinations. Proposal 1 fits with Nightingale’s theory and is the one Iwould choose.
Since the proposed roomwould allow the windows to open to provide the patient with fresh air andsunshine, that goes with Nightingale’s theory that the environment should aidin the patients physical and psychological wellbeing. Alligood, M. R.
